Application outrage with residents
The proposal from Arrow Valley Solar Ltd would see the development span 1,700 hectares, or around 2,380 football pitches, generating 500 megawatts of renewable energy and include solar panels, a battery energy storage system, substations, and an underground cable route.
The underground cable route would run from Feckenham, through Abbots Morton, Dunnington, Bickmarsh, and South Littleton.
Residents have hit out at the application and believe it will spoil much of the countryside.
Alcester resident Ram Parmar said: “Many residents are becoming increasingly concerned about the scale of the proposal, its impact on agricultural land, local wildlife, rural views, and the potential effect on nearby homes and communities.
“There is a growing feeling that many people remain unaware of the extent of the project and its possible long-term consequences.

Impact on Rural Landscape
The AVS proposal threatens the area's rich biodiversity and ecological balance. It would impact protected species, sensitive river courses, historic woodland, and hedgerows that provide essential wildlife habitats, migration routes, and nesting areas.
Extensive fencing, continuous artificial lighting, and the loss of footpaths and bridleways would fragment habitats, disrupt wildlife, and restrict public access to the countryside. Together, these changes risk transforming a thriving natural landscape into an industrial site, with lasting consequences for both nature and the local community.

Wildlife Disruption
The proposal threatens the area's fragile ecology, impacting protected species, sensitive river corridors, and historic woodlands and hedgerows that provide vital habitat, migration routes, and nesting sites.
Soil Quality
Much of the site is highly productive Category 2 farmland. The scheme would permanently remove it from agriculture by keeping the soil sterile, leading to an unnecessary, loss of food production and significantly harming local biodiversity.
Loss of Heritage
Small communities with numerous characterful listed buildings have developed over hundreds of years. The heritage and identity of these communities along with conservation areas would be severely compromised and lost forever by the installation of densely packed panels within metres of the properties.

A formal, mandatory public consultation is scheduled for late 2026. This is the primary window for local residents, parish councils and environmental groups to lodge official design feedback or objections before the application locks.
